Jim Barre and Waco Ibolt have been trail partners for some years when they decide to pool their resources and take the winter off. But after they get to celebrating they find they only have $100. left, and Jim lends that to another friend, Dale Clark, who leaves an old Mexican saddle with them as security. The next day Dale is found murdered.
