This idyllic holiday story of happiness and connection begins with a celebration feast with Grandma Grace. True to family tradition, everyone puts an I Am Thankful For note in Grandma's yellow plastic bowl. The notes are read aloud, so family members can guess who wrote each one. But the bowl accidentally rolls outdoors and is carried across the countryside by the wind. It gives shelter to small creatures; it serves as a hat for a snowman, a nest for Canadian geese, and a sandbox toy; and it tumbles down a rushing stream, finally landing where it started in Grandma's yard, just in time for the next year's Thanksgiving. Bright watercolor and liquid acrylic illustrations show the small bowl's journey through the seasons, framed by the family feasts. The theme about being thankful may spark a family tradition.--Rochman, Hazel Copyright 2007 Booklist
