Summary
Summer of the Drums
Spur Award--winning author. Life was hard on the remote farm on the Blue River in the Wisconsin Territory of the 1830s. But to 15-year-old Kevin Trask it was paradise. As hard as his pioneering family worked to carve out a homesite Kevin still found time to hunt fish and roam the woods. But while the Trasks were at peace with their surroundings and content to reap the benefits of their hard work others were more interested in persecuting the Sac Indians. Some of the white settlers perpetrated violent acts and treacherous dealing upon the peaceful Indians. And when they had had enough they struck back to regain their homes - and the scene was set for more violence and tragedy.
