Billy O'Shannessy, once a prominent Sydney lawyer, is now homeless. He befriends a 10-year-old near street kid, and tells him the story of the circumnavigation of Australia as seen through the eyes of Trim--a cat that once belonged to Matthew Flinders and is now immortalized as a statue.
