Deafening
The story of Grania, the daughter of hard-working Irish hoteliers in small-town Ontario who emerges from a bout of scarlet fever profoundly deaf. Grania attends the School for the Deaf in Belleville where she meets and eventually marries Jim Lloyd, a hearing man. Two weeks after their wedding Jim leaves for the battlefields of Flanders.
