Marooned in Nova Scotia : a story of the Jamaican Maroons in Canada
Kwabena Bene is one of hundreds of Jamaican Maroons left in Nova Scotia by the Governor of Jamaica, in 1796. He is a hero of the conflict with the British Militia in Cudjoe Town, Jamaica and refuses to call Halifax home. He wants to return to Jamaica to help his people in their struggle against colonial oppression.
