Mama koala wonders which part of her baby she loves best. In rhyming couplets, she considers her little one's twinkling eyes and crinkling nose as well as the occasional tears. Appealing to parents at least as much as children, this valentine of a book ends with the mother exclaiming, Oh, I love everything about you! The simplified digital illustrations use rounded lines and forms to enhance the feeling of family warmth and security, while varied textures and gold-foil highlights add visual interest. This square-format picture book and the simultaneously published When You Were Born (2015) are from Dodd's Love You Books series.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2015 Booklist

While there is nothing original about rhyming odes to parental love, these sweet books do it well. Everything features a koala family, while When You Were Born shows a variety of animal families, including people. Warmhearted illustrations in saturated colors with metallic accents complement the comforting language that tells, from a parent's viewpoint, how a child changes everything. Baby-Toddler-In keeping with the rest of the series, Dodd's newest titles use rhyming text to celebrate parental love and the joy that little ones bring to their lives. In Everything, a koala mommy is hard pressed to express what she loves best about her baby. In the end, she decides that she can't pick one thing; it has to be everything. When You Were Born visits different animal families and their babies, ending with a family of humans. With each family, the story demonstrates how life is enhanced by the new arrival: "When you were born, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and the sky turned blue." Adorable, digitally rendered images adorn the pages in both books, with silver or gold leafing accents on a number of spreads. VERDICT Children will enjoy these titles shared one-on-one or in a storytime setting.-Emily E. Lazio, The Smithtown Special Library District, NY © Copyright 2015.
