Hello Kitty: Here We Go!

Hello Kitty is cute, cute, cute! And fans everywhere will squeal with delight at this collection of short, wordless comics. In colorful, detailed panels, Kitty embarks on all kinds of adventures: she travels to the North and South Poles before taking a trip to the moon. She rescues a very special package for the queen of England in a James Bond-style caper. She embarks on a day of housekeeping, only to fall clean through the earth. All while making new, cute friends along the way, of course. Tongue-in-cheek visual jokes are everywhere, from Kitty's logic-defying around-the-world chase to a daylong adventure with an umbrella that she uses for everything except rain protection. The standout is Kitty's trip to the library, where she samples various genres and is befuddled by a fantasy, terrified by an undersea adventure, and in a laugh-out-loud send-up so bored by a black-and-white Chandleresque noir that she nods off right in the middle. Though some of the references might soar over the heads of young readers, the cheerful, bubbly cartoon art is irresistible.--Hunter, Sarah Copyright 2014 Booklist
