Having drawn satisfaction and meaning from tending wounded Confederate soldiers, Shannon Adair, a true-blue Virginian, reluctantly accompanies her minister father to the gold rush town of Grand Coeur in Idaho territory. There, she nurses a dying widow and grows fond of the woman and her son. The woman's rough-hewn brother is another matter. Wells Fargo driver Matthew Dubois is not at all like the Southern gentlemen she knew back home. Still, God has a plan for the couple. VERDICT The Christy and RITA Award-winning Hatcher (Belonging) is admired for her strong female characters, and her new heroine is no exception. This heart-warmer should be enjoyed by those who love Kim Vogel Sawyer and Lori Wick. (c) Copyright 2012. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
