Kelly Warren knows without a doubt that her father did not commit suicide. He was murdered, and Kelly is determined to convince someone at the St. Louis Police Department to reopen its investigation. Until now, the police had been nothing but polite, but without any evidence, they simply couldn't afford to waste time on a closed case. Now Kelly believes that she has something concrete, but detective Cole Taylor, who would like to do anything he can to help her, finds her evidence slight at best. When Kelly nearly dies in an accident, however, Cole begins to wonder whether she might be onto something. Which means he will now be spending a lot more time with the lovely lady. In the latest addition to the Guardians of Justice series, Hannon, who has already garnered two RITA wins and racked up yet another nomination this year, again skillfully delivers plenty of suspenseful chills, sans graphic language and gory violence, along with an abundance of sweetly romantic thrills.--Charles, John Copyright 2010 Booklist

Though her father's death was ruled a suicide, Kelly Warren believes he was murdered. The police refuse to investigate until Kelly is targeted. Finding this incident more than mere coincidence, Det. Cole Taylor digs for clues and uncovers a connection between Kelly and an old crime. Somebody wants Kelly dead. VERDICT Compelling characters and edge-of-your-seat action make this a winning finale to two-time RITA Award winner Hannon's "Guardians of Justice" series (Deadly Pursuit; Fatal Judgment). While this tale of romantic suspense is a sure bet for fans, it can also be read as a stand-alone and should garner new readers who enjoy the thrillers of Sibella Giorello. (c) Copyright 2012.
