Gr 3-6-The Galactic Security Agency's most fearless (and sometimes defiant) operative, Missile Mouse, is the classic "plays by his own rules" protagonist. After discovering a mysterious mind-control device, the GSA sends him, along with a robot partner, on a mission to get to the bottom of things. They soon discover that King Bognarsh is enslaving an entire society on a remote planet. Missile Mouse and his bot set out to free the slaves, but Bognarsh has other ideas, sending henchman Blazing Bat to interfere. The crisp, vivid illustrations combine with a clear layout to create a graphic novel that works for veterans of the genre as well as newcomers. Enthusiastic readers will appreciate a section in the back of the book that features detailed diagrams of the characters, structures, vehicles, and gadgets of the Missile Mouse universe. While the story touches on some familiar tropes, the execution is impressive-brisk and entertaining. Hand Missile Mouse to a "Star Wars" fan and watch the word-of-mouth machine start chugging. After jet-packing and lasering his way through The Star Crusher (2010), Galactic Security Agent Missile Mouse is back for another blast of high-energy interstellar adventure. Lone wolf that he is, MM is dismayed to get partnered up with security robot Agent 44 (In a tight situation there's no substitute for quality gray matter and a beating heart) on a mission to investigate the strange goings-on in the far-off colony Tankium3. Dodging the flame-throwing bounty hunter Blazing Bat and plunging deep into the stardust mines of the blobby King Bognarsh, Missile Mouse has plenty of opportunity to show off his mavericky talents and even learn some respect for his plucky bot partner. Clean character design, oodles of great gadgets and gear, and tons of action fill the brightly colored panels in this sci-fi romp, and an appende. Missile Mouse Guide to the Univers. provides diagrammatic details of MM's flight suit, blaster, spaceship, and more.
