Most woodworkers are self-taught, so tips and tricks of the trade are popular; nearly every woodworking magazine has a section featuring reader submissions. McCulloch, a woodworker with over 60 years' experience, presents literally hundreds of ways for craftspeople to make their lives easier. Nearly every subject is covered, including tools (plus accessories, care, and use), lumber, safety, measuring, finishing, adhesives, and the transport of awkward materials. Most woodworkers will already know some of these things, but there is something new here for everyone (e.g., 15 seconds in a microwave will restore the adhesive on old masking tape). Color photos and illustrations supplement the text as needed, and a glossary defines a number of useful terms. This title will prove popular and should be part of all woodworking collections.
