In Mumbai, real estate developer Dharmen Shah hopes to seal his legacy with a building named Shanghai to be located where the once respectable, but now crumbling Vishram Society's Tower A apartment building currently stands. All of the residents accept a generous buyout except for Masterji, a retired school teacher who refuses to abandon the building he has long called home. As the demolition deadline approaches, neighbours become enemies, and acquaintances turn into conspirators who want their payday.
