When amateur sleuth Alvirah Meehan and private investigator Regan Reilly arrive in Branscombe, New Hampshire with their husbands to celebrate the town's first Festival of Joy, they soon realize that all is not joyful in the picturesque village. A group of employees has won the lottery, but one of their co-workers has gone missing after deciding not to play on the advice of a pair of crooked businessmen. It's up to Alvirah and Regan to find out what is amiss.
