This documentary presents an extraordinary look into the killing of Afghan civilians by a rogue U.S. Army platoon in 2010. Four soldiers were convicted of murder, involuntary manslaughter, or conspiracy and received sentences ranging from three years to life in prison for their crimes. An additional seven soldiers who knew of the killings were convicted of illegal drug use. Scenes from the Afghan War are edited with interviews with Specialist Adam Winfield, who attempted to inform the army of the events; Winfield's parents; Corp. Jeremy Morlock, who was convicted of three counts of premeditated murder; and PFC Andrew Holmes, convicted of one count of murder without premeditation. VERDICT This is an intimate look into a military culture that allowed bored young soldiers to commit murder yet also ensured that their intimidation of fellow soldiers would likely keep their crimes secret. Very highly recommended for adult video collections.-Cliff Glaviano, formerly with Bowling Green State Univ. Libs., OH © Copyright 2015.
