The Moonstone
First published in 1868, Moonstone is considered the first modern English detective novel, and requires the entire cast of Recorded Books to bring it to life. The light that streamed from it was like the harvest moon: the Moonstone, a yellow diamond of unearthly beauty originally stolen from a shrine in India and presented to Rachel Verinder on her birthday. On that same night, the diamond was stolen again. What was the motive? Who was the thief?
