After living quietly among humans in New York City for 75 years, the Greens and the Grays--alien refugees from a war of attrition that utterly destroyed the rest of their kind--discover that each still exists, and old hatreds and fears once again arise. A human couple and an NYPD detective are dragged into the impending battle when the couple tries to protect twelve-year-old Melantha Green from each group.
