In Bed, the twins describe their nighttime wind-down; Fight finds the preschoolers squabbling about a blue balloon. The books' rhymes couldn't be simpler (""Mine is blue. / The green is for you. / The blue one is mine! / Do not whine""); they also tend to be stale. Appealing loose illustrations set the twins against stark white backdrops. [Review covers these Ready-to-Read titles: Twins Go to Bed and Twins Have a Fight.] (c) Copyright 2010. PreS-Gr 1-Weiss writes about themes that children can relate to-bedtime and having a battle over a balloon. With very short rhyming sentences and basic vocabulary, the books are suitable for beginning readers. Children will empathize with the tired siblings as they get ready for bed ("Now we are cranky./We need our blankie!") and will relate to the trauma of an argument as one twin says, "I got it first," and the other replies, "You are the worst!" Colorful illustrations provide helpful visual clues. Libraries that need to build up their ready-to-read collections would do well to purchase these simple titles.-Anne Knickerbocker, formerly at Cedar Brook Elementary School, Houston, TX (c) Copyright 2010.
