Summary
Canadian Symbols : Official Birds
Nunavut's official bird is the rock ptarmigan. The rock ptarmigan became the official bird in 1999. The white winter feathers help camouflage the rock ptarmigan. Camouflage helps protect the bird from the sight of predators. The rock ptarmigan's feathers become grey-brown in summer.
