Gr 6 Up-Jessa is in a world where nothing exciting ever happens. She goes through everyday life like many people-lost in her own thoughts and not noticing much around her-until the day she spots a strange boy watching her. The boy, Finn, is a fully realized character from her own imagination, it turns out. Jessa has always loved to escape reality and make up tales. It's Finn who tells her that she is a Traveler. Her paranormal ability allows her to transport herself to alternate realms and change things while she's there. Finn has arrived with even more urgent news: otherworld versions of Jessa are being killed off, and they need to learn who is responsible and why before the Jessa in this world is threatened. Readers seeking an enjoyable romantic fantasy will find what they're looking for in this absorbing book. DeLano has taken the love triangle and made it fresh again with inventive, paranormal twists and well-developed settings. With each new Jessa, readers will become intrigued with a different character's story even as they root for the original Jessa to stay safe. Featuring skillful world-building and carefully plotted suspense, this novel will leave readers eagerly awaiting the sequel. VERDICT Recommended for both middle and high school fantasy and romance fans.-Rena Gibson, Ralph Ellison Library, Oklahoma City © Copyright 2017.
