PreS-Gr 3-Boarding the Dinosaur Train, the Pteranodon family is on their way to learn about waterfalls, migration, land forms, and craters and asteroids. Time travel is also involved. For instance, in the "Zeppelin: Pangaea" segment, the family goes to the Triassic and Jurassic periods. The best part about the first four episodes is that the dinosaurs take a Zeppelin to reach their destinations. Familiar characters are seen along the way, and there is always a short video by Dr. Scott the Paleontologist to expand on the subject matter in a kid-friendly manner. The other episodes focus on one of the Pteranodons' favorite friends: Petey the Peteinosaurus, who, along with Shiny, Tiny, Don, and Buddy, explore and compare the features of other dinosaurs. They learn about wing structure, food patterns, and how dinosaurs ended up on different continents. The DVD is jam-packed with science facts and trivia for young novice scientists, and older viewers will be pulled in by the catchy rock music and the graphics. VERDICT Dinosaur fans have another fun video to add to their collection.-Martha Rico, Hawkins Elementary School, El Paso, TX © Copyright 2017.
